How we remove permanent make-up with the laser
During the laser treatment, the colour pigments in the skin are broken down into smaller particles and gradually removed by the body. How many sessions are needed depends on the colour, depth and amount of pigments. We discuss this with you beforehand.
The goal is to remove the permanent make-up or microblading as far as possible. Whether this succeeds completely cannot be stated with certainty in advance.

Which laser is used?
- We treat with the Q-Switch laser Q-Plus EVO by Quanta System. We will discuss with you beforehand how well the individual colours can be removed.

What happens in the skin during this?
When permanent make-up is applied, colour pigments are introduced into the middle layer of the skin (the dermis).
- The body cannot break down these pigments on its own. They therefore remain permanently in the skin and form the make-up.
- During removal, the laser heats the colour particles in very short pulses so strongly that they break down into many small particles.
- The body recognises these small particles as foreign bodies. It gradually transports them away via the lymphatic system.

Removing microblading: what is different?
With microblading, the pigments are drawn into the skin of the eyebrows as individual hair strokes using a fine blade, usually less deeply than with machine-applied permanent make-up. This makes no fundamental difference for the laser: it breaks down the pigments in the same way. How many sessions are needed here also depends on the colour, depth and amount of pigments.

Microblading that has discoloured, for example turning grey, reddish or bluish, can also be lightened with the laser. A correction or new microblading can then be done on a calmer base.
Side effects and risks
Redness, swelling and a slight burning sensation are common directly after the treatment. In the following days, small crusts or blisters may form, which heal on their own.
Also possible are:
- a temporary lightening or darkening of the skin at the treated area
- a darkening of light, skin-coloured or white pigments (colour change)
- a temporary lightening of the eyebrow hairs
- rarely, scars or permanent changes to skin colour
We discuss these risks with you in detail before the first treatment.
What does the removal of permanent make-up cost?
The prices apply per treatment. How many treatments are needed depends on the colour, depth and amount of pigments. We will tell you the final price for your permanent make-up after the initial consultation, before you decide. All prices are estimated amounts, approx. per treatment.
The removal of permanent make-up is generally not covered by statutory health insurance.
Frequently asked questions about removing permanent make-up
Answers to the questions we are most often asked about removing permanent make-up and microblading.
What should I avoid after the laser treatment?
Please do not scratch the treated area, even if it itches, and do not pick off any crusts or blisters. They will heal on their own after a few days. While the treatment series is ongoing, please avoid sunbathing, tanning beds and peelings on the treated area.
When should no laser treatment be carried out?
Before starting, we discuss your personal situation using a medical questionnaire. We do not treat during pregnancy and breastfeeding, or in the case of haemophilia, viral hepatitis, cardiovascular problems or epilepsy.
How does removal with the laser work?
The laser light targets the colour pigments and breaks them down into very small particles. The body gradually removes these particles via the lymphatic system.
How long does the skin take to heal after the treatment?
The treated area usually heals within a few days. There should be 4 to 6 weeks between two treatments so that the skin can recover. The wound must be completely healed before the next treatment takes place.
What do I need to consider before and after the treatment?
You should avoid medications that increase the skin’s sensitivity to light and that you do not take regularly before a treatment. Please do not stop taking regular medication on your own; speak to us about it instead. Keep the treated area dry and clean for two days to avoid infection. Throughout the entire treatment period, the area should not be exposed to sun or tanning beds.
If you are prone to cold sores, please tell us beforehand, especially for treatment of the lips.
Can all colours of a permanent make-up be removed?
The laser can break down most colour pigments. Black, brown and red pigments are usually the easiest to remove. Light, skin-coloured or white pigments may darken from the laser (colour change). We will discuss whether this is possible in your case before the first treatment.
How many treatments do I need for permanent make-up or microblading?
Several sessions are usually needed to remove permanent make-up as far as possible. The exact number is individual; experience shows it is usually 2 to 5 treatments. Whether the pigmentation disappears completely cannot be stated with certainty in advance. Fresh pigmentation often responds well to treatment, and older, already faded pigmentation also often responds well.
Does the laser treatment hurt?
Many people experience the laser pulses as a brief stinging sensation. As with tattoo removal, we cool the skin during and after the treatment. We discuss beforehand whether a numbing cream is also advisable.
